Wilbur M P, Roberts-Wilbur J: Categorizing sensory reception in four modes: support for representational systems. Perceptual and Motor Skills 64(3Pt1): 875-886, 1987.

Abstract: Explored the basic tenet of neurolinguistic programming theory, concerned with the senses through which people receive information. Visual, auditory-tonal, auditory-digital, and kinesthetic sense modalities were objectively categorized as separate modes for receiving information. The responses of 176 21-47 yr olds in a file-questionnaire setting indicated more preference for the use of auditory-tonal, auditory-digital, and kinesthetic sensory modes than the visual modality.
